The Scottish Diversity Awards 2019

PrioritEyes are delighted to announce that our Managing Director, Norma Baillie, has scooped a national award at the prestigious Scottish Diversity Awards last week. Norma won the “Disability Inclusion Champion of the Year Award” at a distinguished awards ceremony in Glasgow’s Trades Hall.

The Scottish Diversity Awards 2019 aimed to acknowledge those who believe in an inclusive and diverse Scotland and want to see the country as one of the most welcoming and multi-cultural countries in the world. The ceremony not only showcased those who believe in diversity but, more importantly, those who have actively contributed to achieving equality in their business by treating everyone equally and giving them fair opportunities, regardless of their background, gender, religion or economic status.

The event was co-hosted by Rupa Mooker, Employment Law Solicitor and member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Equality and Diversity committee and Josie Smith, a familiar face on STV and a BBC Scotland broadcaster.

Competition for the awards was tough with Norma being up against a Paralympic Youth Games Swimmer, a British Paralympian and World Champion Wheelchair Curler and the organiser of the Winter Paralympic Games to name but a few.

Commenting on her win, Norma said, “I am delighted to have won the ‘Disability Inclusion Champion of the Year’ award. I am the founder and Operations Manager of Prioriteyes Ltd, a company I set up to fill the many gaps in service provision to people who have experienced sight loss. My team of highly experienced, qualified Vision Rehabilitation Specialists support people across the UK. This award recognises that disability inclusion is a key factor reflected and demonstrated in the services we provide. Winning this prestigious national award will hopefully help to raise the profile of the importance of vision rehabilitation intervention.”
