We can provide specialist information technology assessments to adults and students with a vision impairment.
The aim of the IT assessment is to identify the computer needs of each user. There are many options available to vision impaired users, including making icons bigger, changing colour themes, magnification and speech software. Many mainstream phones, tablets and desktop equipment have apps which make their functions accessible, so we can show people with sight loss how to use the same make & model as their sighted peers.
Once the assessment has been completed, we will be able to identify the person’s specific needs, set up the system to suit them and/or recommend any software that will aid them in becoming an independent and confident technology user.
The assessment will also identify whether the person would benefit from a touch-typing or other computer skills training programme. Our main objective is to enable people living with sight loss to use technology independently.
